This page explains what personal data is collected on The Solar Helper, why, and what choices you have. We collect the bare minimum, and nothing is sold.

Who we are

The Solar Helper is responsible for the data described here (see the legal notice). For any question about your data or to exercise your choices, reach out through the contact page.

Data we collect and why

Contact form

When you write to us, we collect your name, your email and your message, solely to reply to you. Delivery is handled by our email provider Resend.

Newsletter

If you sign up, we collect your email to send you our new articles and tests. Sending is handled by Brevo. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.

Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used (page views, device type, navigation, click areas). These tools load only after you consent via the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of the page.

Affiliate links

The site contains affiliate links to partner merchants, notably through the Amazon Associates Program. When a purchase follows one of our links, the publisher earns a commission, at no extra cost to you. The Amazon cookie is set by Amazon on its own site, only if you click one of our links and keep browsing there; it is then governed by Amazon's own privacy policy.

Installer referral request

If you use the "installation request" form, we collect your first name, your last name, your email, your ZIP code and, if you provide it, your phone number. With your explicit consent, this information is shared with a partner installer near you so they can contact you about your project. These requests are handled through our provider Brevo. You can withdraw your consent or request deletion of your data at any time via the contact page.

Who we share data with

Apart from the installer referral you request yourself, your data is not sold or shared with third parties for their marketing. It is processed by our providers and partners as part of the following services:

  • Resend (sending contact emails)
  • Brevo (newsletter and installation request handling)
  • Partner installers (referral, only if you submit an installation request)
  • Google (Google Analytics) and Microsoft (Clarity), if you consent
  • Amazon (affiliate link tracking, set on Amazon's own site)
  • Cloudflare (site hosting)

Some of these providers may process data outside the United States under appropriate contractual safeguards.

How long we keep data

  • Contact messages: as long as needed to handle your request, then limited archiving.
  • Newsletter sign-up: until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics: according to the lifespan of the relevant cookies (typically up to 13 months).

Cookies

The site sets no analytics cookies until you accept. The only cookies set without consent are those strictly necessary for the site to work (for example, remembering your consent choice). You can manage your preferences via the "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of every page.

Your choices

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and opt out of analytics and affiliate tracking at any time. To do so, write to us via the contact page.

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act) gives you specific rights over your personal information. Over the past 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers (name, email, phone number, ZIP code): only when you submit one of our forms.
  • Internet or network activity (pages viewed, device and browser data, on-page interactions): only if you consent to analytics.

We collect this information for the purposes described above (replying to you, sending the newsletter, referring you to an installer at your request, and understanding how the site is used), and we keep it for the periods described in "How long we keep data."

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not knowingly share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Analytics and any advertising cookies load only after you opt in through our cookie banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time.

Subject to legal limits, you have the right to know and access the personal information we hold about you, to request its deletion, to request its correction, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact us via the contact page; we may need to verify your identity before we respond.

We honor browser-based opt-out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required. Because we load analytics and marketing tools only with your prior opt-in, none of them run unless you have explicitly consented.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general, adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site or to applicable law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
